Prof. Maciej Wojtkowski (b.1975) is the Chair of the International Center for Translational Eye Research established at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Leader of the Physical Optics and Biophotonics Group. He is active in the field of biomedical imaging. His research interest includes optical coherence tomography and low coherence interferometry applied to biomedical imaging. Maciej Wojtkowski has a significant impact on the development of Fourier domain OCT (FdOCT) technique.

THE SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH

Research activity of the POB_LAB is focused on the fundamental physical aspects of optical imaging. The core competence of the group is in the comprehensive development of new optical methods by combining low coherence interferometry, holography, advanced spectroscopy and fluorescence. The research program includes work on developing two techniques for non-invasive functional retinal imaging – a two-photon excitation fluorescence method and an optoretinography technique based on the superfast eye imaging by Spatio-Temporal OCT.
