Scientific Computing and Information Technology
Prof. Gawron is an applied computer scientist, leader of the Scientific Computing and Information Technology group at AstroCeNT. His scientific background is in quantum computing, image and time series processing and analysis. Prof. Gawron’s scientific interests concentrate on quantum computation, quantum information theory, machine learning, tensor networks, and recently Earth observations.
THE SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH
The role of the Scientific Computing and Information Technology group at AstroCeNT is to conduct research in machine learning applications and to support physics groups with information technologies expertise. Current projects involve gravitational wave signals analysis, Monte-Carlo simulations for a direct dark matter detection experiment, and quantum machine learning. The group members have backgrounds in computer science, theoretical physics and mathematics.
